It is important from a safety perspective, as well as a legal and claims aspect, that the gas installer is properly licensed and registered, you can check this on the LP Gas Association Website or ask to see the installers registration card. New instillations, or all work that is done on a gas instillation, a Compliance Certificate must be issued.
WHY IS A GAS CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE REQUIRED WHEN SELLING A PROPERTY?
In the event of there being a gas installation in the Property the Seller shall at his cost be obliged to obtain a Certificate of Conformity in respect of such an installation as is required by Section 17(3) of Government Notice R734 of 15 July 2009, Government Gazette 32395.
In terms of Regulation 17(3) of the Pressure Equipment Regulations (OHS ACT of 1993), a Gas Certificate of Compliance must be issued when there is a change of ownership. This came into effect on the 1st October 2009.
Compliance certificates are required by your Insurance company and certain banks if there is a bond on the property.
As a failure to do so could result in a claim being repudiated, and / or the installation not being compliant according to regulations. SANS 10087-1: 2013
Gas Inspection : R550.00 (includes the issue of the COC)
We do Inspections and if the installation is compliant we will issue a compliance certificate otherwise we will issue a report and quote to do the remedial work to ensure the installation is complaint before a Certificate is issued.
