Domestic Gas Installation
Basic Gas Line Installation costs will depend on the scale of work and length of piping required
Approx cost: R5300.00 (incl. 15% VAT), excluding gas cylinders
Installation includes wall mounted changeover regulator, shut-off valve, change over and connections for two Gas Cylinders, 5m piping and LP Gas Installation Certificate.(R105/m thereafter for Copper).
Single bottle Installation
Approx cost: R3850.00 (incl. 15% VAT), excluding gas cylinders.
Installation includes wall mounted regulator, shutoff valve, connection for 1 cylinder, 5m copper piping and LP gas Installation Certificate (R105/m thereafter for copper)
INTERNAL
Single bottle Installation
Approx cost: R2300.00 (incl. 15% VAT), excluding gas cylinders.
Installation includes bullnose regulator, shutoff valve, connection for 1 cylinder, 1.5m copper piping and LP gas Installation Certificate (R105/m thereafter for copper)

Installation Regulations
If you already have a Gas line installed but you don’t know if it is legal, compare it to the following diagram.
Give Calvert Gas a call just to make sure!
A – 1m sideways from Doors and Windows
B – 2m from Drains and Air Vents
C – 3m below windows, unless non combustible roof is installed between containers and windows
D – 3m from property boundary unless boundary is a Fire Wall
E – 5m away from a switch able electrical point i.e. plug socket, main power, motor, distribution board, etc. (not a light)
Only Class 1 or 2 copper pipe can be used. NOT WHAT IS USED IN PLUMBING!
All pipes going through a wall must be sleeved.
Flexible hose MAY NOT be more than 2m and MAY NOT go through any partition/wall at all (including wood and dry wall).
Gas Installation:
Gas line
- No visible damage
- Odours or horrible leaks
- Shut off valve not working correctly
Pigtails (Flexible Hose that joins cylinders to the Regulator)
- Check a minimum once a year
- Or when changing Cylinders for Damage, Cracks, Wear and Leaks
- O Rings must be replaced every 2 years.
- Replaced every 5 years
Regulators
- Check a minimum once a year
- Or when changing Cylinders for Damage, Cracks, Wear and Leaks
- Replace every 5 years.
NB : If you suspect a leak, have a leak or can smell Gas (Rotten Eggs), turn of the gas immediately, and then at the cylinder. Call Calvert Gas for assistance.
