Maintenance and Service Points
Whether you have a basic Domestic Setup, or a Multi-networked Gas Piping System supporting your entire business premises, in time however, they may develop faults and can become very dangerous and eventual problem solving rather costly. It is for these reasons highly recommendable to have Calvert Gas check your instaillation annually.
Please remember that any work carried out on a LP Gas instillation must be done by a register professional, and a certificate of compliance must be issued, otherwise if there is an accident/fire you are not covered by your insurance.
Calvert Gas Maintenance and Service call outs:
Call Out R750.00 (This excludes parts or cylinders. If any parts are needed a quote will be issued first before any work commences. – Thereafter labour is R650.00/hour
Hobs, Boiling Tables, Ovens, Water Heaters & Fridges
Flame:
Must have a quiet, steady, blue flame and no smoke, any other flame must be seen to by a technician.
- Large Flickering Yellow or Yellow Tipped and Smoke
- Orange Flame
- Flames lift above the burners
- Delayed Ignition
- Odours
- Floating Flame
- Burnback
Water Heaters:
- Check once a year
- No corrosion blocking gas vents or tray
- Pilot light and electronic ignition working correctly
- Burner operating correctly
- Chimney/Flue is not blocked
- Correct Ventilation
Refrigerators:
- Always ensure the fridge is level
- No torn or worn door gaskets
- Correct ventilation
Room or Roll About Heaters:
- Check a minimum once a year
- Or when changing Cylinders for Damage, Cracks, Wear and Leaks
- O Rings must be replaced every 2 years.
- Adequate ventilation for the room it’s being used in.
Fireplaces:
- Check annually, before the start of winter
- No corrosion blocking gas vents or heat exchange tray.
- Ensure artificial logs/coals are in the appropriate spot
- Pilot light and electronic ignition working correctly
- Chimney/Flue is not blocked
- Correct Ventilation
Ventilation:
- Ventilation requirements are to ensure that the Oxygen in the room does not fall below critical or dangerous levels for the maintenance of human life and the effective performance of the appliance(s).
- Chimney / Flue must be fitted for appliance that needs one.
- Two sources of air / vents are needed, Ground level one through which fresh air will enter, a high or ceiling level one through which warmer stale air can leave the room.
- In a bathroom a flue and air vents is essential.
